Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions about ESOL-English Classes

Am I eligible for enrollment?

Students must be at least 16 years old, not currently enrolled in high school and able to attend classes for at least one month. There is no visa or other documentation required.

How do I enroll in English classes?

Students must attend and complete both days of Orientation and pay tuition. Students should arrive on time. Space is limited. Late students are not admitted. No student is allowed to begin class until Orientation is completed.

How much is tuition?

Tuition and fees are $31.50 per term or semester. It must be paid at the time of registration, the first day of Orientation. It may be paid with cash, money order, credit or debit card. Tuition is the same regardless of the time of semester a student enrolls. We encourage students to enroll early in the term to get the most class instruction for their money.

What are my responsibilities as a student?

Attend class regularly and arrive to class on time. Regular attendance and participation in class is very important for getting the most benefit and faster progress from our English classes.

How long can I study at ACE?

There is no limit to how long you can study at ACE. The school year begins in August and continues through May. Students who study one or more semesters benefit the most. Some students find they progress through our beginning, intermediate and advanced classes and continue to benefit from the classes many years.

What will I learn in class?

ESOL-English classes will help students gain and improve listening, speaking, reading, writing, vocabulary and grammar skills. Students will also learn about U.S. customs and culture that will help them adjust to and understand living in the U.S.

How many students are in a class?

Most classes average about 15 students.

Can I bring my child to class?

No.  We cannot allow children in class for legal reasons.

How will my progress be evaluated?

We regularly administer English listening and reading level tests to evaluate each students’ progress.

Does ACE offer proof of enrollment?

Yes. After each evaluation test students receive a certificate of enrollment. Letters of enrollment are available upon request as long as you are currently enrolled and attending class regularly.
